Eerie nocturnal happenings...
Having just got back from Melbourne, and the Eagles losing (sigh, I'll leave that to another blog), I came back to an unsettled household. My gf told me some strange things had been occurring over the weekend whilst I was gone, that they'd been happening a while, that she just didn't want to worry me previously, but it had gotten too much. It's probably easier if I chronical them:
1) a few weeks after we moved in, we had a night where we were sure someone was in the house due to some noises we heard, but I couldn't find anything. It spooked us, but I never thought about it again, it happens sometimes, the night playing tricks on your mind when the noise could be almost anything.
2) one night my gf had a dream within a dream where she imagined there was someone at the foot of our bed, again I didn't think much of it at the time because it was a bad dream.
Now, the bits I didn't know:
3) 2 different people who have stayed at our house in the months since we moved in have mentioned to my gf that they were worken up at night by the sensation of someone with their hands around their throat. Both I would consider people to be reliable and unlikely to imagine something, or be spooked easily.
4) The neighbour told my gf in an unrelated conversation regarding the previous owner and the work they'd done on our house before selling it that the owner thought the house was haunted
5) On Sunday night my gf was washing dishes, and felt a physical assault where someone was pushing at her from the front and from behind
6) That her Dad, who is a somewhat spiritual guy, came round and did a small ceremony in each room where he tried to get whatever spirit might be on the loose, to leave the house.
7) That when they let our dog in, it raced to the last corner of the room they were in, and growled in a very unusual and deep way, and generally went bananas, very unlike our dog. When my gf and her Dad went to that corner, there was a foul smell which couldn't easily be explained as it wasn't outside the room or anywhere else. So they redid that corner and the dog was ok when it came back in.
8) That night my gf was awoken my sharp banging noises and the sounds of drawyers moving. By this time, she had the dog sleeping in with her. She didn't have a good night's sleep funnily enough.
So, I get back on Tuesday to be told all this and I have to say it freaked me out. I'm one of those people that believe the after-life (and aliens of course!) could exist, but I need proof to believe. But let me say that my gf isn't the sort to make anything up, and I spoke to her Dad and he said the same thing and he's very straight down the line too. Soooo, guess who spent most of Tuesday night listening for bad noises and got a very crappy sleep? We had my gf's Dad over again last night and he repeated his ceremony, and they both feel the house is now clean, but I'm still feeling really uncomfortable in my own home despite not sensing anything. I slept really badly again last night, and any noise is freaking me out more than a little.
What on Earth could have happened in this house in suburbia in the past? I'm thinking of ringing the Police to find out if any violent crimes were committed there as I'm more than a little curious. One other thing I should mention, this isn't the first time my gf has "felt" something. She told me when my Gran passed away recently that in the hours before she passed away and we were at her bedside that she saw my Gran's soul escape her body. She also saw her own Nanna 3 times in one day, the day after her Nanna passed away. And yet I've seen or felt nothing at that time or in our house, which really does surprise me, I felt sure I'd be empathic. Unfortunately I think death is however lingering around me a little at the moment, as I've lost all my 3 remaining grandparents in the last year. Is it possible this spirit has picked up on the grief around it? Who knows. I just hope we can both sleep soundly tonight without the night terrors...
